Here is what I have for you this week. 

Just general weirdness.

AMERICAN narcotics agents have intercepted two parcels of marijuana valued at $70,000 en route to one of the nation's biggest publishers, St Martin's Press

 

I bet if they dug to the bottom they would find a query letter and manuscript. Just a hopeful author trying to stand out in the slush pile. 

 

              No one can get more than a few hours of sleep with all the infernal banging, booming and shaking that's going on... For a third straight night the citizens at one end of Clintonville have heard and felt something that no one has been able to put their finger on.    

 

This gives new meaning to "things that go bump in the night". 

 

A Malaysian shoe store has launched a promotion that is too bizarre to make up: "Get a pair of shoes from Shoes Shoes Shoes and get a free man."

There are just so many ways this one could go. It is actually an online dating site...kind of.

I needed a change after last week's ghost stories. Some of those are still creeping up on me while I am walking around the house alone...Did you hear that?*looks over shoulder*

So, here are some stories to get the creative mind turning this week. Let me know what you think!

Giant Lego Man!

  

I have been dying to throw this one in since I heard about it!

[A man] was walking along the beach near Sarasota, Fla., early Tuesday morning when he saw a body floating ominously in the surf. Luckily, it was the fiberglass body of an 8-foot-tall, 100-pound Lego man, with the cryptic words "NO REAL THAN YOU ARE" on its rudimentary torso, and the name "Ego Leonard" on the back.

  Just so many possibilities!

This has a video to compare before and after. I think it would make a great character device. Is it real? Is she faking? Is she actually a former spy with amnesia?

A Snellville mom went to the hospital with stroke symptoms and came home a week later with a British accent.

Speeding I was. Drinking I might

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a 42-year-old male driver, resplendent in his Yoda costume, had a minor collision with a pedestrian and sped off in his car, only to be collared by a police vehicle two minutes later. 

This one entertained me on two levels. 

One, Yoda is one of my favorite characters for weird reasons I will go into some other time.

Two, I was in a minor collision a few years ago. A man hit me from behind. When he jumped out of his car to be sure everyone was okay, he was dressed in full pirate garb. Jack Sparrow style. Sword and everything. He spoke with an English accent, called me "love" and wrote his insurance information on the back of a "treasure map".

True Story.

This week, we are entering the World of Weirdness. Some of these stories have interesting characters to inspire you. Some of them have plots that will make you shake your head and said, "Huh?".  Some of them have both. 

Like this one:

 

An Upper East Side couple grieving over the loss of a stuffed toy monkey they’ve raised like a son the past decade went bananas with joy Saturday night after being reunited with their beloved Beanie Baby. 
(Really, you need to read the whole story to grasp the, um, originality of these people)
  
Three people in Beatrice, Neb., were charged after a woman allegedly asked her friends to stab her so she could avoid a probation hearing, 
(I have some great friends. Amazingly enough, I don't see any of them doing this for me.)

Doctors were baffled when a British man told them, "I can hear my eyeballs moving." But they finally diagnosed that Stephen Mabbutt had a rare ear condition in which sounds inside the body are heard very loudly, 
(I have no comment on this one.)
