I am not pouting...

Thinking about Thursday
My daughter, age 4. She hates this picture.

In case you wondering how I am doing while most of my writer friends are off in New York city at RWA Nationals... I'm fine! I mean, really, who wants to go to NYC anyway?

First of all, the weather. Looks like the high there today is 85 degrees? Really, it is SUMMER time, people. What kind of wimpy place has a high of 85 on the last day of June? The high here today...101. Now that is what you call summer time!

Second, is the entertainment. While my friends are going to amazing workshops, author signings and grand dinners, I have the pleasure of viewing classics such as Jem and the Holograms. I also get to see my girls swim from one end of a pool to another.. approximately 42 times a day. Back and forth...back and forth...back and...

And last, thanks to the wonders of Twitter I don't even have to be at the conference. I can see all the fun happening just by following #RWA11. Lucky me. I can following links to my friends pictures of seeing famous people, grabbing adult beverages and hanging with their favorite authors without leaving the comfort of my couch.

So, see, I am fine. Just fine. I'm just going to go sit by myself for a while...*sniff*
So, what are you doing today instead of sitting at a silly ol' National conference?

And think of the money we are not spending! The blisters we don't have from trying to stagger around NYC in girl shoes! Okay, I would still be wearing my sneakers if I were there, but still, I bet my feet would hurt anyway.

Think of the writing we are doing (ahem) while everyone else is out there being famous.

What am I doing? Getting two of my sons ready for a youth mission trip, trying to decide if I have time to get another one in to see the eye doctor before he goes to art camp next week and thinking I don't, trying to reassure my husband (and myself) that even though New Orleans has the highest murder rate in the world that our boys will be safe in God's hands, recouping from a two week on-the-road trip back home(1000 miles from here), preparing for my new writer's network meeting I'm heading up on Saturday, trying to remember what I need to be writing, and wondering what I'm forgetting...

I've got to cart my two boys back and forth to summer band today, try and remember to pay the electric bill while I'm out, finish the dishes I left in the sink last night and get more editing done on the current WIP.

We live the glamorous life. XP

LOL! Well, I'm not pouting either. Nosirree!
Instead, I'm trying to find where I hid my husband's birthday present. It's today. Hunting down a family ice-cream recipe, taxi-cabbing my tween around and delaying the treadmill. :)

I loved your comment on my blog, Dawn. It was a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it! :)

I've been going to doctors' appointments three days in a row. Woot! Sooooo much better than being at Nationals.

Teri~ I would be in girly shoes. That is true. My feet probably would have mutinied by now and removed themselves from my body.

Linnette~ Hope you got everything together. I will say an extra prayer for your boys!

Tressa~ Glamorous life indeed. Everyone should be jealous, no?

Jessica~ Did you find the present?

Paula~ I think I detect a note of sarcasm in your comment. Hope everything turns out okay for you.

Love the picture! She is so cute!

I'm working this week but have a five day weekend starting Saturday. It's supposed to be in the upper 90's here tomorrow.

Loree~ Thanks, she hates that picture. But, I think it totally captures her personality when she is mad.

Enjoy your long weekend!
