Literary Confessions

Thinking about Thursday

I have a confession to make. This will probably shock and appall you. I hope after you have heard what I have to say, we can still be friends.

Here goes:
I've never read anything by Jane Austen.
I've never read Little Women or seen the movie.
I abandoned the Harry Potter series after book three.
I've  only read one Nancy Drew mystery in my lifetime.

In my defense:
My favorite classic book is The Secret Garden
I read and re-read the Anne of Green Gables series more times than I can count.
I have also read all of the J.D Robb In Death series,  Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and the entire Twilight Saga.
(Not sure if that last one adds much to my credibility)

Whew! I feel better getting that out there.

What about you? Is there any author or series you are hesitant to admit you haven't read? Or  hesitant to admit you have read? Let it out. I won't judge.

Huh. I have read Pride and Prejudice, and I actually did a senior research paper on the Bronte sisters. And I have not only read Little Women, but all the other books by LMA, did you know there were a bunch of them?
And Nancy Drew? She da girl.
I did, however, bail on Harry Potter in the middle of book one.

I have NOT read Anne of Green Gables of the JD Robb books.

And I, too, read all the frickin' Twilight Books.

I read the entire Twilight Saga too. I did not read the last two Potter books, but not because I didn't like them.

Um, as an adult, I am re-reading the Sweet Valley High books, and yes...I still love them! lol

I'm the exact opposite! I've read all those in your first list and none in your second. hehe

Teri~ I highly suggest the In Death series. I think you would like it. Had no idea Louisa May Alcott had written anything other than Little Women.

Jessica~ Sweet Valley High! That was another series I avoided like crazy. I was more into Judy Blume. I went back and reread some of those as an adult and wondered why my reading choices weren't monitored a little more closely as a child!

Tressa~ I think it is hilarious we are opposites. The Anne of Green Gables was very good. I have been thinking about rereading them.

I admit to not having tackled either Twilight or the Steig Larsson series. Most people tell me I'm crazy, but I'm a little scared of both of them. I don't know why. Give me a pep talk guys, if you think I should try them. But I do love Jane Austen. She's seemed to get better as I get older. And though I don't like the ending of Little Women so much (still think Jo should have married Laurie, not Amy, spoiler alert, LOL), I blogged this Tuesday about why Louisa May Alcott and Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables) were more revolutionary woman than I expected. They also kind of terrify me a little bit, in a good way. You can check it out, if you dare. http://bit.ly/nycB28
